El Reno is rich in historic structures. In the city limits there are currently 11 properties and 2 areas listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition, our inventory of historic homes is incredible.

The Canadian County Museum is rated as one of the outstanding museums in Oklahoma. Located in El Reno's Heritage Park, the grounds sit on the 98th meridian, which divided the unassigned lands in central Oklahoma from the Cheyenne and Arapaho lands in western Oklahoma. The main museum is housed in the fully restored old Rock Island Depot. The museum grounds house a number of historic buildings from the first Red Cross Canteen in the nation to General Sheridan''s cabin, the oldest standing structure in Canadian County.

The Heritage Express Trolley is the only rail based trolley in the great State of Oklahoma. The trolley runs from Heritage Park, located on the grounds of the Canadian County Historical Museum, and travels through the downtown area where you can exit to enjoy a great meal at one of the unique restaurants or browse at one of the many specialty shops. The trolley will run Wednesday through Sunday.

A fun, local public park nestled in a quaint community. Frank Knight Park has a 20' x 20' pavilion with a picnic table, playground equipment, baseball diamond, basketball courts, and a skateboard park.

Fort Reno was established as an Indian Territory military fort in 1875 and is located four miles west of El Reno on Route 66. Fifteen buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places are adjacent to the parade grounds. The historic Post Cemetery is the location of the annual Tombstone Tales event in September. The land base exceeds 6,000 acres and is the location of the Grazinglands Research Laboratory of the United States Department of Agriculture.

Darlington Cheyenne-Arapaho Agency Established there 1870, by Brinton Darlington, Quaker, Indian Agent appointed by President Grant. Important Stop on Chisholm Trail Site of Arapaho School, John H. Seger, Supt. Post Office Established in 1873, and First Newspaper "Cheyenne Transporter" in Western Indian Territory published there, 1879.

The U. S. Cavalry Memorial Research Library seeks to play a key role in the most important mission of the U.S. Cavalry Association, preservation of the history of the U.S. Cavalry. Located in a recently renovated building on Fort Reno, OK a military post steeped in cavalry lore and tradition, the Library serves as a research, preservation, and educational facility for books, documents, photographs, and other media related to the history of the mounted forces of the U.S. Army. The Library welcomes and assists researchers of all types and backgrounds from academic researchers, students of all levels, military personnel, genealogical researchers, and members of the general public.

Burton Park has a 25' x 30' pavilion with 4 picnic tables and a bbq grill, electricity & lights, playground equipment, baseball diamond, basketball courts, and volleyball courts.

Legion Park has a new 2,000 square foot public splash pad and the Municipal Swimming Pool. Legion park also offers a concrete walking trail, four regulation-sized tennis courts, and a number of playground areas as well as a covered pavilion and public fishing areas in Legion Park Pond.

This fun local park has basketball courts, swings for the children and much more.

El Reno is filled with parks from small neighborhood parks to large sports complexes. Adams Park is the most diverse with a lighted soccer field, an 18-hole disc golf course, newly constructed restrooms, playground areas, covered pavilions, a 10,000 square foot skatepark, a rodeo arena, and four baseball fields.

Owned and operated by the City of El Reno since 1998, Crimson Creek Golf Course is very proud of its past and its bright future. The golf course has gone through a number of changes since its beginnings as a 9 hole country club, including the addition of a new 9 holes with the design by P.B. Dye. This is one of only two courses in the great state of Oklahoma blessed to have P.B. Dye design their course with the other being Oak Tree Golf & Country Club.

Lake El Reno has 333 acres of open land and 300 acres of flat water that is used for water skiing, jet skiing, swimming, boating and fishing. It is also home to a herd of buffalo, a remote control airplane field and a motorcycle dirt track. A quiet 22 space RV park is nestled behind the lake with water and electrical hook ups. The newest addition to Lake El Reno is a P.B Dye Jr. designed 18-hole Golf Course. Crimson Creek Golf Course is also one of the premier Golf Courses in the state.
